POSITION: Computer Support Specialist
DEPARTMENT: Administration
REPORTS TO: F & A Director
FLSA STATUS: Exempt
Job Summary: Responsible for objectives, supervision and production of the Center’s computer information system. Assures the daily operational data processing needs of the Center are met.
Duties:
- Provide support for variety of applications and activities, including configuring Active Directory permissions, Domain Controllers, Antivirus, TCP/IP, troubleshooting client connectivity, resolving printing issues, installing, configuring and troubleshooting Windows applications.
- Ability to troubleshoot hardware, software and connectivity for mixed environment.
- Responsible for providing effective technical support.
- Responsible to respond to initial trouble calls.
- Responsible for installing connectivity software using VPN, Citrix, Telnet and Dial-up connections.
- Responsible for determining & implementing software and hardware resolutions.
- Plans, directs and controls operational and maintenance of the Computer Information System and Management Systems.
- Reviews all logical access controls for information systems to ensure that all sensitive data (including transmissions, files, tapes, or reports) is protected.
- Initial setup of computers including loading operating systems, all applications that will be utilized by the end user and configuring multiple software environments on a per-user basis.
- Tests and debugs programs and systems by analyzing to determine likely problem areas.
- Performs necessary steps for generating and installing new software releases.
- Upgrades hardware and software as equipment requires.
- Provides end user training on PC and Network basics, applications including, but not limited to, e-mail, Microsoft Office, Windows operating systems, and web-based applications.
- Develops procedures in written form for control of the Information System.
- Acts as liaison with hardware and software vendors.
- Enforces all software standards to ensure the security of data.
- Provides necessary preventative and corrective maintenance on hardware.
- Oversees phone system issues and repairs.
- Ensures all computer equipment is properly maintained.
- Follows the CDSS/CSS plans and procedures daily.
- Adheres to required property controls policies and procedures.
- Complies with all DOL guidelines, OFCCP regulations, Job Corps notices and bulletins, and Center policies and procedures.
- Maintains good housekeeping in all areas and complies with safety practices.
- Models appropriate employability skills for dress, language, and work habits.
- Helps students become more employable through continuous reinforcement.
- Participates in PRH mandated staff training.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Above average public speaking skills and experience in same; above average verbal and written skills; above average problem solving and conflict resolution skills; knowledgeable computer skills of software and hardware; exceptional working knowledge of Internet, Email, Microsoft Office Suite.
Experience: A minimum of three (3) years computer experience. Knowledgeable on MS Office, MS SQL, Citrix, Windows Operating systems, Internet Information server, AntiVirus and Backup software.
Education: Associate degree in field preferred.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: State Drivers’ License
