Description

The Grants Manager identifies mission-aligned organizations to raise support for strategic priorities and general mission fulfilment. Reporting to the Director of Philanthropy and Partnerships, the position researches foundations that align with NCCERs focal areas and builds relationships through discovery meetings, letters of intent, and grant proposals. The position also works to identify corporate funding prospects and helps position NCCER as a partner to aid organizations in achieving corporate social responsibility objectives. 


The Grants Manger is a cross-departmental collaborator who is skilled at turning concepts and projects into impactful proposals. The position should be comfortable converting technical terminology into relatable program language that inspires support. The position will work closely with Accounting and Marketing to ensure grant obligations are fulfilled and will contribute to impact reporting that will steward donor contributions. NCCER uses Salesforce to manage prospect data and fundraising-related activity. The Grants Manager will record all proposal and prospect activities, as well as donations, into Salesforce. 

    

Philanthropic Relationship Management

  • Identify new funding sources to expand the philanthropic revenue stream supporting growth and expansion of NCCER’s mission and programs. 
  • Participate in exploratory conversations with potential donors to vet applicability of philanthropic partnership.
  • Write grants, letters of interest, and any other proposal-related materials to complete funder requirements
  • Establish a system to track grant due dates, report dates, and reporting requirements to ensure compliance with funder needs.
  • Manage a prospect list of 100-150 organizations or corporations, or individuals at all stages of the donor lifecycle.
  • Manage stewardship reporting for all donors to NCCER.
  • Serve as the key partner to the finance team to record and reconcile all philanthropic related financial statements, ensuring accuracy and transparency. 
  • Ensure the timely delivery of all gift acknowledgement letters for all gifts made to the organization. 
  • Produce monthly reports on gifts received, pledges, and prospect status relative to the donor lifecycle. 


Additional Responsibilities

  • Engage with other departments around the organization to understand the implementation of programs funded through donations and be part of an iterative process to constantly improve outcomes for individuals and donors. 
  • Participate in ongoing professional development to expand understanding trends in philanthropy including best practices in stewardship and prospect development work
  • Travel to events to represent NCCER or collect communications material, as requested 
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of grant writing experience at a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization
  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Public Administration, or a related field
  • Established relationships with national grant-making foundations
  • Experience building relationships with corporate donors at national companies
  • A meaningful personal connection to the mission of NCCER
  • Experience using Salesforce preferred
