Groundskeeper

 

Primary Responsibilities:

• Perform grounds keeping and building maintenance duties.
• Mow lawn either by hand or using a riding lawnmower.
• Cut lawn using hand, power or riding mower and trim and edge around walks, flower beds, and walls.
• Landscape by planting flowers, grass, shrubs, and bushes.
• Shovel snow from walkways and sprinkle ice down to keep people from falling.
• Perform routine maintenance duties such as applying plaster, fixing fountains, and other duties.
• Sweep walkway of debris.
• Trim shrubs and pull weeds.
• Perform minor repairs and maintenance procedures on equipment utilized in grounds keeping.
• Rake, mulch, and prune the grounds as needed.
• Other duties as may be assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred
• Understand and follow basic verbal and written instructions
• Ability to work at heights for roof, glass, vent, or screen repair
• Team player, good verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to lift, squat, bend, twist, lean, etc as the job requires
• Self-motivated, positive attitude, work independently and as part of a team
• Continuous interaction with various department and colleagues

Working Conditions:

• Year-round indoor greenhouse and/or warehouse environment, where temps average 70 degrees, as well as outdoor work where temps can reach below 0 in the winter
• Position requires sitting, standing, walking on a regular basis
• Working at various heights.
• Use of various tools and equipment daily
• Heavy lifting up to 50lbs.
• Working around bees

Starting salary $20/hour
