Job Description
Tomorrow.io’s Space & Sensors team is responsible for the development of unique RF-based sensing systems – primarily radar – from architecture through implementation. The team is also responsible for the development of corresponding spacecraft and constellations in support of Tomorrow.io’s satellite constellation, which will collect weather data to be integrated seamlessly into our existing forecasting and modeling systems, revolutionizing global weather intelligence.
We are looking for a Temporary Senior Hardware Technician to join a cutting edge, multidisciplinary team to help us execute complex development programs. Applications include, but are not limited to, weather and climate remote sensing, navigation and situational awareness, as well as enabling the most capable weather intelligence platform in the world. As a Temporary Senior Hardware Technician at Tomorrow.io, you will play a critical role in both leading and contributing to the production, assembly, inspection, test, and integration lifecycle of a cutting edge radar platform. You will have a wide breadth of work and impact, and contribute directly to Tomorrow.io’s weather monitoring capabilities.
Please note: This is a fully on-site position based in our Golden, CO office. While the role is temporary, it will be full-time approximately through the end of 2025 with potential for extension or transition to full time.
What you’ll do:
- Work closely with the Manufacturing Engineering team to support the overall manufacturing flow, from design release through completed (and tested) product.
- Support management of local inventory.
- Create and compile documentation and procedures associated with the specifics of manufacturing and testing our products.
- Work closely with Quality Management to assist in overseeing quality of product, ensuring procedures are followed and quality standards are met.
- Execute on common technician and production level tasks including:
- Receiving inspection of PCB, PCBA, Mechanicals, and Harnesses
- Soldering and Reworks of PCB, PCBA, and Harnesses (soldering irons, hot air soldering station)
- Electrical Testing/Checkout of PCBA
- Electro-mechanical assembly (Build up of ARENA assemblies)
- Build up of wire harnesses and cables (Development/Lab Builds)
- Lab/Workstation Housekeeping
What you bring:
- 5-7 years of experience in an electronics production environment with a proven track record of the entire production process including hand-assembly of PCB’s, inspection and testing of circuit boards, and working with electronics assembly houses.
- Exceptional time-management and organizational skills to ensure all deadlines are met and responsibilities are completed on time.
- Proficient in technical drawings software, PCB layouts, schematics, and BOM tools.
- Aerospace, space, and defense experience.
- Collaborative, able to bridge the gap between technical and operational teams.
- Experience with RF systems.
- Familiarity with Lab Equipment (Multimeters, Power Supplies, Oscilloscope, etc.)
- Able to interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, technical drawings and documents.
- Flexibility/adaptability. Adjusts quickly to changing priorities and conditions. Copes effectively with complexity and change.
- Strong communication and active listening skills.
- Possesses a strong work ethic and willingness to potentially work long hours to complete projects and tasks.
- Operates with honesty and integrity, earning trust and maintaining confidence with the team.
