JOB TITLE: Lead Instructor/Team Leader DEPARTMENT: Education REPORTS TO: Department Chair/Director of Education/Dean GENERAL PURPOSE: The Lead Instructor/Team Leader teaches in his/her assigned discipline, works with faculty to promote continuous improvement of the quality of instruction within the assigned program(s), is the lead instructor for the department, and, as such, is responsible for assisting with development and coordination of the academic program(s) and retention activities within the department. FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES: *As a faculty member, fulfill all the functions and responsibilities of teaching the assigned course load as directed by the DOE/Dean/ADHO/Department Chairperson. *Demonstrate excellent teaching qualities and set a positive example for other instructors regarding appropriate dress, class preparation, punctuality, student assessment and a student-centered approach to classroom instruction. *Serve as a mentor to new faculty members. Assist in developing, evaluating and maintaining curricula and programs that respond to community needs, prepare students for success, and meet the requirements of the regulatory agencies. *If assigned to work externship as qualified instructor, visit the externship sites and review the students' performance, and conduct meetings with students. Also responsible for renewal of site contracts and development of new sites. *Assist with the development and scheduling of classes. *Assist with textbook review, selection and distribution processes. *Substitute to cover classes as needed. *Assist with employee orientations regarding program procedures, instructional issues and Faculty Fast Track Training. *Assist the Department Chairperson with faculty to support course consistency in accordance with approved course syllabi and lesson plans. *Attend regular phone conferences with the National Director of Medical Programs and participate in Team Leader group activities when available. *Assist Department Chairperson to resolve faculty and student issues. *Assist in maintaining inventory of equipment, software and supplies in the laboratory and classroom and monitor the cleanliness of the labs/classrooms as directed. *Monitor classroom and student safety and immediately report safety concerns to the DOE/Dean and the Campus Director/Department Chairperson. *Participate in student activities, such as serving as a club advisor, if asked. *Be aware of the school catalog, faculty handbook and student handbook, and understand all the procedures and expectations stated within it as well as policies stated therein. *Assist in maintaining industry contacts for instructional and employment purposes. *Keep abreast of industry changes through participation in industry events and regular involvement in professional organizations. *Adhere to and support school policies and procedures as referenced in the employee handbook, faculty handbook and catalog. *Participate in advisory board meetings, in-services, weekly faculty meetings, professional seminars, etc. *Attend student orientation and graduation ceremonies. *Perform other duties as may be specified by the DOE/Dean, Department Chairperson or the Campus Director Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS: SKILLS Documented expertise in academic subject area as demonstrated by data sheets, diplomas, transcripts, certifications and/or résumés. Expertise in interpersonal and oral presentation/written communication skills. Ability to follow through on instructions given in a timely manner and work effectively and collaboratively with others. EXPERIENCE Minimum of four (4) years of industry experience. Prior postsecondary related teaching experience of at least one (1) year is required. EDUCATION Associate/Bachelor's/Master's degree in the discipline may be required, as well as appropriate licenses and/certifications depending upon discipline as per accreditation and state licensing standards. DOCUMENTATION: The Team Leader must complete/submit and update each year the following documents to support appropriate instructional qualifications: o Résumé o All official higher education transcripts o All official required licensures and certifications o Faculty Development Plan with documented professional development o Faculty Data Sheets as required by the state and accrediting agencies PERFORMANCE MEASURES: Performance is based on the employee's ability to: o Meet preset annual goals o Maintain high rates of student retention and graduation o Demonstrate job knowledge o Achieve satisfactory student evaluation scores o Demonstrate organization and planning o Use strong communication skills o Show initiative/dependability/reliability o Work as a team player ACKNOWLEDGEMENT: The education of the students is ultimately the responsibility of the instructor.
