Reporting to the Hepburn Site Manager, responsibilities for this position include the following:

  1. To come to work with a positive, professional approach and attitude.             

  2. To be dependable for all scheduled shifts, both inside and outside the facilities as required (approx. 90% of shifts will take place outdoors).

  3. To provide information, assistance and service to customers in a manner which will promote the sale of merchandise and meet the needs, requirements and expectations of the consumer.

  4. To perform general housekeeping duties and maintain a neat, clean and orderly department at all times.

  5. To order, receive, and displace merchandise as directed by the [LOCATION] Site Manager as per Saskatoon Co-op Policies and Procedures.

  6. To operate appropriate equipment, such as a forklift or wheel loader, in a safe manner for unloading/loading inventory.

  7. To complete pre-use inspection of equipment, such as forklift, wheel loader, and fleet vehicles, and bring forward any deficiencies to the Yard Supervisor.

  8. To operate the bulk seed and/or bulk fertilizer plant in a safe and efficient manner, ensuring all loaded and unloaded product is accurate.

  9. To assist with maintaining accurate inventory of all crop protection, farm equipment, seed, and fertilizer and to bring any discrepancies to the Yard Supervisor.

  10. To be responsible for the care and periodic repair/servicing of grain augers, equipment rental units etc. as assigned.

  11. To operate the point of sale terminal and prepare daily cash reconciliations when required.

     

  12. Must be able and willing to occasionally travel to other agro locations as requested.

  13. To be familiar with and adhere to Saskatoon Co-op policies and procedures.

  14. Other duties as assigned.         

Qualifications:

  • Must be strongly service-oriented and motivated, and capable of serving and assisting customers in a courteous and efficient manner.

  • Must have previous farm or agricultural experience with proven mechanical ability preferably with farm and agricultural equipment.

  • Prior forklift experience will be an asset.

  • Must be proficient in cash register operations.

  • Must possess sufficient knowledge, experience and physical ability in the handling and merchandising of all products carried in order to effectively operate in the department.

  • Must be prepared to increase product knowledge and improve selling techniques through special courses, product clinics and seminars and training sessions.

  • Must be able to work mornings, afternoons, evenings and weekends.
