In this course students will learn about the multidimensional impacts of climate change on human health, exploring the pathways linking climate change drivers and hazards, population vulnerabilities and exposures, and population health outcomes. Students will participate in lectures, case studies and presentations to investigate how climate change adaptation and mitigation strategies can help to prevent or reduce the health impacts of climate change, and the roles of public health practitioners, researchers, and international organizations.

Requirements:

PhD in Health relevant discipline related to Climate Change (e.g. Public Health, Health Sciences, Environmental Health); previous teaching experience at the graduate level; mastery and capacity to teach the core competencies of Climate Change and Public Health developed by the Global Consortium on Climate and Health Education. Understanding of best practices in climate communications. Ability to teach about: the history of climate change policy and science, climate change adaptation, climate communications, extreme weather events, heat related illness and mortality, climate resilient and sustainable health systems, air quality related illnesses, vector-borne diseases, food and water safety and security.
