Our opportunity

The Head of Procurement, Logistics & Services (Mexico) will lead a team of procurement professionals responsible for driving cost leadership and enabling profitable growth across landside transportation, depots, warehousing, customs, and ground freight (domestic and cross border) in Mexico.

He/she will work with stakeholders in Product Management and Operations to ensure procurement efforts support the Area commercial goals. Value drivers include securing capacity at competitive rates and ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction. All while ensuring Safety and Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) compliance.

The Head of Procurement will work in close coordination with the Regional and Global category managers to develop and execute a sourcing strategy, deploy new technology to build scalability, and implement a strong Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) program to create a long-lasting competitive advantage.

The individual in this high impact role will represent Procurement in the Area Leadership Team (ALT) and be part of the Regional L&S Procurement Leadership Team.

Main responsibilities:

  • Create and execute a procurement strategy to enable profitable growth across L&S products in Mexico.

  • Drive collaboration with Product and Operations to price and develop competitive and reliable supply chain solutions.

  • Develop a strong Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) program and help Operations manage vendor performance.

  • Provide spend visibility and market intelligence to drive procurement efforts and go-to-market strategy.

  • Build the annual procurement Gameplan and ensure value delivery with clear PNL impact.

  • Drive deflationary Unit Cost (UC) and proactively work to improve profit margins.

  • Coordinate Request for Quotation (RFQ) events and vendor selection in conjunction with local and regional stakeholders.

  • Build Should-Cost models and external benchmarks to ensure cost leadership.

  • Support the Investment Proposal (IP) process to manage capital investments in the Area.

  • Ensure the highest levels of service quality and safety.

  • Drive the implementation of new digital sourcing and contract management tools.

  • Drive data-driven decisions and a Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) mindset.

  • Ensure high levels of employee engagement and sense of belonging.

  • Develop a talent management and capability building program, including robust onboarding and training plans.

  • Build a strong operating system to manage performance and drive continuous improvement.

  • Lead by example and champion the Maersk core values and winning behaviors.

  • Ensure adherence to the Global Procurement guidelines and COMIT rules.

  • Drive compliance and Sustainable Procurement (SP) practices throughout the Procure-to-Pay process.

  • Lead strategic projects as directed by senior leadership.

We are looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree with graduate studies (preferred)

  • Ability to drive collaboration, build and develop strong teams

  • 10 years of experience in transportation, logistics or supply chain

  • Prior experience in procurement and vendor management (essential)

  • Strong communicator with superior stakeholder management skills

  • Strong influencing skills and ability to drive business outcomes in a matrix organization

  • Strategic and data savvy

  • Customer centric

  • Bilingual English-Spanish
