Continuous Improvement Manager

Reports to: General Manager

Department: Engineering

Job Status: Full Time / Salary / Level 15

Mobility Profile: Flexible

Position Summary: The Continuous Improvement Manager will be responsible for developing and effectively deploying an Operations Continuous Improvement Program across the Clayton Albuquerque Organization centered on Lean Manufacturing Principles & Best Practices utilizing the key technical skills listed below. 

Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Create, maintain, and deliver training across the division to help advance the Continuous Improvement culture.
  • Implement Lean Manufacturing Principles in areas that have not been previously exposed, maintain those principles over time.
  • Work closely with Plant General Manages to ensure Continuous Improvement Programs meet expectations and are clearly communicated.
  • Develop Key Metrics needed to track improvements within the Plants that impact the bottom line.
  • Assess Operation Performance through data analysis and use this to identify areas of concern and corrective actions.
  • Work closely with supervisors and team members on GEMBA-based Kaizens and actively participate in Kaizen events.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Technical or Statistics is required with a major in Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering preferred.
  • At least 3+ years of continuous improvement experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with time studies, changeover reduction, 5S, Value Stream Mapping, capacity analysis, inventory control, material flow, and lead time reduction.
  • Must be able to manage projects off-site across multiple Manufacturing Sites.
  • Must have excellent oral, written, listening and comprehension skills.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to consistently operate a computer and other office productivity machinery such as telephone, calculator, copy machine, computer printer, etc.
  • Must be able to communicate with others via phone, email, and in person. Must be able to exchange accurate information with others.
  • Constantly works in an indoor, temperature-controlled, sealed-window office environment.
  • Work primarily involves sitting / standing.

Travel Requirements:

  • Minimal travel will be required to occasionally travel to other locations for training and development and to participate on home office conferences and events.
