ECS is seeking an experienced Cloud Engineer located in Arlington, VA to join our team. Please Note: This position is contingent upon contract award.
You will responsible for designing, implementing, optimizing, and maintaining secure, scalable, and reliable cloud solutions for a premier law enforcement agency. This technical leader oversees cloud infrastructure, manages migrations, and ensures best practices are followed to support mission-critical operations in a multi-cloud environment. The Lead Cloud Engineer collaborates closely with technical teams, business stakeholders, and vendors to deliver innovative cloud services that meet agency requirements for performance, security, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Cloud Architecture & Engineering:
- Design, deploy, and manage enterprise-level cloud architectures across multiple platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
- Lead the migration of applications, data, and infrastructure from on-premises or other cloud environments.
- Develop and implement automation for cloud provisioning, configuration, monitoring, and management.
- Ensure high availability, disaster recovery, and business continuity of cloud services.
- Operations & Optimization:
- Monitor and optimize cloud resource utilization, performance, and cost.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex cloud infrastructure and application issues.
- Implement and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar.
- Security & Compliance:
- Ensure cloud environments adhere to federal, agency, and industry security standards and policies.
- Implement and manage access controls, encryption, and security monitoring tools.
- Support audits and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Collaboration & Leadership:
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to cloud engineering and operations teams.
- Collaborate with application developers, infrastructure teams, and business stakeholders to deliver integrated cloud solutions.
- Participate in architecture reviews, technical planning, and project management activities.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Stay current with emerging cloud technologies, trends, and best practices.
- Recommend and implement enhancements to improve cloud service reliability, security, and efficiency.
- Develop and maintain documentation for cloud environments, processes, and procedures.
- Ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience:
- Minimum of six (6) years of hands-on experience in cloud engineering, architecture, or administration for large-scale enterprise environments.
- Demonstrated experience with multi-cloud environments, cloud migrations, and automation.
- Direct, relevant experience within the last two years.
- Skills and Competencies:
- Deep expertise in cloud platform services, networking, storage, and security.
- Proficiency with automation and orchestration tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation).
- Strong scripting skills (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Bash).
- Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Additional Requirements

- Ability to adapt to evolving technologies and changing mission requirements.
This position is contingent upon contract award and requires a proactive technical leader with a proven track record in cloud engineering and team collaboration for a premier law enforcement agency.
