The Interface Engineer I’s function is to design, build, and support HL7 interfaces using the Infor Cloverleaf Interface Engine and the Epic Bridges Interface Toolkit. This individual must understand the HL7 specification, the workings of integration platforms, and the complexities of healthcare application integration in order to maximize the use of the interface engine and promote best practices during interface development. Works with project teams, clinical users, application subject matter experts, and software vendors to establish the needed business and technical requirements to ensure interfaces are properly scoped, engineered, tested, and supported.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

They will be responsible for, but not be limited to:

  • Performs business analysis and workflow review with business owners, clinical subject matter experts, and application analysts to capture business and technical requirements for each integration project. Develops interfaces that satisfy business and technical requirements.

  • Implements interfaces using industry best practices and adheres to defined standards and guidelines on the Infor Cloverleaf Interface Engine and Epic Bridges Interface Toolkit.

  • Performs detailed unit/functional and integrated testing of all interfaces changes and documents results as required. Facilitates and lead up testing meetings as necessary.

  • Deploys new interfaces and interface changes into production environments while adhering to established change control policies and procedures. Performs ongoing monitoring of all changes to ensure proper performance.

  • Participates in departmental activities relating to employee engagement.

  • Works alongside interface and application resources with Epic Community Connect Partners by providing ongoing support and ensuring customer interfaces perform as required on an ongoing basis and throughout Epic upgrades and new interface implementations.

  • Communicates effectively with all levels of staff to exchange information, ideas, and answer inquiries.

  • Participates in the regular maintenance of the Epic Bridges interface toolkit. Reviews and implements Epic release notes. Maintains Bridges errors and associated error work queues.

  • Maintains a relationship with I&T leaders and staff, facilitating sharing and implementation of lessons learned and best practices across BSMH.

  • Participates in after-hours support and project implementations.

  • Facilitates communications among various committees/teams related to system implementation and support of these projects.

  • Works with senior engineers as a resource to promote culture of continuous growth.

  • Working closely with Epic Systems support staff to review system features and functionality and helping client informatics and operational groups understand the potential value to clinical care, safety, and operational or financial efficiencies.

  • Creating and contributing to a supportive team culture where everyone is focused on the overall goals. Adapting their own focuses of time and energy, under the guidance of management, to deliver on the most important priorities, and guiding the time and energy of other members of the team

  • Overseeing and participating in the onboarding of new team members to client support team, including orienting to unique client configurations and processes, and introducing employees to client counterparts

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • 1-5 years of experience in Healthcare Integration, Healthcare IT, Software Engineering, or other Application Integration

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college in Health Sciences, Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Systems.

  • Epic Bridges Certification (Preferred)

  • Infor Cloverleaf Certification (Preferred) or other healthcare integration engine certification or demonstrated relevant experience (Required)

  • Must demonstrate and embody Nordic’s maxims

  • Proven ability to apply problem-solving and technical skills

  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal; make the complex simple, persuasion; all levels of an organization up to C suite

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications ▪ Strong attention to detail and ability to organize

  • Must be able to work independently as well as within a team environment
