About the opportunity

The Senior Advisor role delivers strategic advisory services supporting the development, design and execution of strategies, strategic planning management/new venture development, investment plans and business cases.

Leading a small team of advisory and project staff, this role supports the Director Strategic Ventures and VP (Strategy) in stakeholder engagement for the design, evaluation and implementation of university strategies, new ventures, and strategic investment decisions, including performance monitoring and review.

This role will partner with senior stakeholders across portfolios, faculties, and other communities to lead, design and deliver major strategies and decisions of the University. Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • consult, advise, and support members of the University leadership to design new strategies, strategic plans, and investment decisions through robust and consistent processes
  • partner with portfolios (OGC, Finance, Research, Education, External Relations) to contribute expertise in key content areas to design and deliver solutions, proposals, and business cases
  • prepare materials, reports and presentations for the University Executive, Senate, and other decision-making bodies.

About you

  • extensive strategy design or strategy/ventures consulting experience, with demonstrated executive engagements
  • advanced experience managing multiple work streams, or leading large complex projects and ability to work according to strict deadlines and manage various demands
  • experience in team management, with emergent abilities to build a team
  • advanced skills in consulting, strategy development, business case development and design of transformational strategies and projects
  • demonstrated knowledge and experience in the analysis of the performance and strategic design of business models and new ventures, including operational and financial analysis
  • effective management of a diverse group of key stakeholders on large or complex projects.
