Scope:
Production planners will develop and manage production schedules and coordinate with different departments to ensure production targets a delivery deadlines are effectively met.
Job Summary:
Develop and implement production plan from forecast and sales demand to meet requirements of our customers.
- Develop production schedule and manufacturing plan consistent with finished product demand, resource availability and inventory level objectives.
- Schedule the production of materials to meet the inventory requirements of the business.
- Review MRP and generate or release work orders to meet demand requirements and inventory plan.
- Identify and act on exceptions to demand or production schedule.
- Provide information to and coordinate with Buyers to aid in the scheduling of raw materials and components.
- Maintain open communication with Production Management and Operations Management to ensure manufacturing and inventory plans are clearly understood and fulfilled.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation for history and audit purposes.
- Prepare and publish quarterly, monthly and/or weekly schedules as directed by management.
- Maintain updated procedures in support of Business System requirements.
- Work closely with the Global planning team to review and update safety stock levels.
- Ensure there is adequate inventory coverage in all distribution centers.
- Participate in the site S&OP process review.
- Perform additional duties and assignments as directed by management.
Travel: 5% or less
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills requiring the ability to resolve conflicting situations under stress.
- Strong problem solving, team building and decision-making skills.
- Strong proficiency in MRP systems, Microsoft Excel, Word and Access.
- APICS Certification preferred.
Work Environment:
- Prolonged sitting in front of a computer
- Visits to production floor and material warehouse
Experience:
- Three to five years materials/logistics experience.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Business or related field.
