Job Description

This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced bookkeeper to take ownership of the financial operations for a rapidly expanding medical practice. You’ll play a crucial role in streamlining accounting processes, maximizing revenue collection, and ensuring accurate financial reporting across multiple physicians. The position offers substantial responsibility and growth potential, with the chance to work through a significant backlog of accounts receivable while establishing efficient systems for ongoing financial management. Responsibilities

  • Reconcile weekly deposited checks against bank account statements to ensure complete accuracy and identify any discrepancies
  • Manage and track separate accounts receivable for each of the five physicians, maintaining detailed records of outstanding payments
  • Post payments directly in the medical EMR system and handle settlement adjustments and write-offs for personal injury cases
  • Generate comprehensive weekly and monthly financial reports for each doctor, showing incoming payments, deposited amounts, and outstanding receivables
  • Conduct proactive follow-up calls to patients, insurance companies, and legal offices to request payment status updates and expedite collections
  • Balance payment differences between originally billed amounts and actual settlement payments received, ensuring proper documentation
  • Work systematically through substantial backlog of outstanding accounts receivable to maximize revenue recovery for the practice
  • Assist with general administrative tasks as workload permits and demonstrate additional capabilities

Requirements

  • Proven bookkeeping or accounting experience with minimal need for training or supervision
  • Strong numerical aptitude and solid understanding of fundamental accounting principles
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently while following detailed instructions and procedures
  • Experience with payment posting, accounts receivable management, and collection activities
  • Comfortable making professional outbound calls for payment follow-up and customer service
  • Proficiency with computer applications and ability to quickly learn new EMR systems
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy when handling financial data
  • Strong communication skills for interacting with patients, insurance representatives, and legal offices
  • Medical billing or healthcare industry experience preferred but not required for the right candidate
