Requirements
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Senior Consultant – Chartered Accountant specializing in Direct Taxation to join our growing tax advisory team. This role is ideal for a qualified Chartered Accountant with 2+ years of post-qualification experience in direct tax compliance, advisory, and litigation support. As a Senior Consultant, you will play a critical role in managing client engagements, ensuring regulatory compliance, and delivering high-quality tax consulting services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct Tax Advisory:
Provide comprehensive advisory support on corporate and individual income tax matters, including tax planning, structuring of transactions, and interpretation of tax laws and treaties. - Compliance & Filings:
Ensure timely and accurate preparation and filing of income tax returns, TDS returns, and advance tax calculations for clients, in line with statutory deadlines and requirements. - Client Management:
Serve as a primary point of contact for clients on all direct tax-related matters. Build and maintain long-term client relationships through proactive communication and expert guidance. - Tax Audits & Assessments:
Support clients during income tax assessments, audits, and investigations. Prepare submissions and represent clients before tax authorities under supervision. - Litigation Support:
Assist in drafting appeals, responses to notices, and legal documentation for direct tax litigation cases. Work with senior leadership and legal teams on strategic litigation matters. - Knowledge Management:
Keep abreast of changes in tax legislation, judicial rulings, and policy updates. Prepare internal updates and client briefings on key developments in direct tax laws. - Internal Collaboration:
Work closely with other consultants and teams (e.g., Indirect Tax, Transfer Pricing, Audit) for integrated service delivery and cross-functional solutions. - Process Improvement:
Contribute to the development and standardization of internal tax processes, templates, and knowledge databases to improve operational efficiency.
Key Skills & Qualifications:
- Education:
Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) from ICAI. Additional certifications in tax or finance will be an advantage. - Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of experience in direct tax consulting, ideally with a CA firm or tax advisory practice. - Technical Proficiency:
In-depth knowledge of the Income Tax Act, Double Taxation Avoidance Agreements (DTAAs), and key direct tax rulings. Familiarity with Tally, Excel, and tax filing software like Winman or ClearTax. - Analytical & Research Skills:
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex tax issues and provide practical, compliant solutions. - Communication:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with clients and prepare quality reports and documentation. - Project Management:
Ability to manage multiple clients and assignments with tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
