We’re looking for a passionate Environmental Scientist to join our team in Fiji.
In this role, you’ll support the delivery of impactful environmental and sustainability projects across Fiji working closely with communities, governments, and development partners.
The role:
- Deliver comprehensive ESIA reports, including Ecology and elements of Climate Change related assessments, aligned with national and international standards.
- Collaborate with urban design, water, transport, and infrastructure teams to ensure environmental integration in development projects.
- Bring technical expertise in biodiversity conservation, ecosystem management, and sustainability practices.
- Support climate adaptation strategies, emphasizing nature-based solutions for resilient development.
- Facilitate stakeholder engagement with community groups, government agencies, and partners.
- Monitor and evaluate environmental programs, reporting on long-term impacts.
- Demonstrate excellent task management, balancing fieldwork, budgets, and project timelines.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of relevant environmental legislation, standards, and guidelines (e.g., IFC Performance Standards).
About you:
- Tertiary qualification in Environmental or Earth Sciences, Environmental Engineering or related fields with a minimum of 7 years of professional experience.
- Deep understanding of Pacific ecosystems, environmental governance, and regional development challenges.
- Knowledge of Fiji’s social and cultural contexts; experience with gender and social inclusion frameworks is a plus.
- Proven experience conducting ESIAs and environmental investigations within multidisciplinary teams.
- Skilled in field sampling methodologies and scientific reporting aligned with regional standards.
- Excellent communicator, capable of translating technical findings for diverse audiences.
- Strong relationship-building, networking, and time-management skills.
- Decisive with good judgment and the ability to prioritize effectively
