Crest Nicholson are currently recruiting for a Strategic Technical Director.

As a Strategic Technical Director you will provide Technical Direction to new strategic land opportunities, immediate planning applications, oversite of Technical consultants and connect with divisional Technical Departments to ensure technical risks and opportunities are understood early in the process to drive value and minimise costs, whilst ensuring adherence to company policies, procedures and standards. You will ensure effective and efficient management of all developments through pre-acquisition

As a Strategic Technical Director you will be accountable for:

  • Supporting the Land & Planning Team on Technical matters
  • Managing the interface with divisional Technical teams and Technical consultants
  • Delivery of the pre-acquisition Technical studies
  • The preparation of detailed construction drawings (through the effective collaboration with the Technical Managers and Consulting teams) together with, where required, the negotiation and securing of technical and statutory approvals
  • Conducting good relationships with the Local Authorities, Building Control, Utility Companies and WASC (Water and Sewage companies)
  • Collaboration and cooperation with the stakeholders involved in pre-construction.

Experience, Qualifications & Skills Required

  • Proven experience in a senior Technical role with a residential Developer/Housebuilder
  • Ideally an Engineering background, Architectural will also be considered
  • Experience delivering multiple mixed-use schemes and projects
  • Strong understanding of the land acquisition process
  • Experience of the end to end survey, draining and preparation of land for construction
  • Excellent knowledge around planning permission, applications, legislations and processes
  • Outstanding attention to detail
  • Strong investigative skills and embraces problem solving
  • Able to work in a fast-paced, highly competitive market
  • Team supervision experience with management training
  • Proven leadership skills with a 'lead by example' approach
  • Highly motivated and determined to succeed
  • Commercially driven
  • Strong team management skills and able to build rapport

Qualifications and Training

  • HNC, HND or degree qualified in the Engineering, Construction or Architectural fields
  • MCIOB membership (preferred)
  • Management training
