Job Description:
The UI Adjudicator plays a critical role within the UI BAM unit by processing selected unemployment insurance claims for accuracy and compliance. This position involves creating case files for investigation, reviewing claims data for coding consistency, and maintaining organized records to support audits and evaluations. The role requires a strong eye for detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to handle confidential information with integrity.

Examples of Work
Prepare cases for Field Representatives, maintain case files, conduct preliminary review of submitted cases, organize completed cases and department records.
Apply coding knowledge and participate in continuous review and update of BAM manual. Additional support duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Contact UI claimants and employers to conduct interviews and obtain verification and document data relating to any issue affecting eligibility.
Document all claimant, employer, and third-party contacts to ensure procedural compliance in the event of claimant no-shows or employer non-response.
Address any questions raised by the claimant concerning unemployment insurance eligibility and their legal obligations under the Nebraska Employment Security Law.
Obtain employer personnel and payroll records.
Review of benefit year earnings.
Issue formal warnings or non-monetary determinations as applicable.
Adhere to State, Department of Labor, and UI Division policies and procedures.
Location: This is an on-site position located at the NDOL Administration Building at 550 South 16th Street, Lincoln.
Work Schedule: 8am - 5pm; Monday - Friday
Requirements / Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications: Post high-school coursework/training in math, composition and/or use of computer equipment, OR experience in fact finding/interviewing, customer service including answering inquiries, explaining procedures or experience in customer service or call center.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience or training in Unemployment Insurance Benefits claims.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of: Nebraska Employment Security Law.
Skilled in: Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, Access, Internet, NEworks, ECM/OnBase.
Ability to: Plan, organize, conduct thorough reviews; gather data; interview individuals; use critical thinking to make independent decisions; apply, interpret and explain laws and regulations; communicate professionally with others; maintain regular and reliable attendance.
