Our Environmental business in Santiago is looking for a Geologist to join their team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the future of our Contamination Assessment & Remediation service line through the coordination and implementation of a wide range of environmental solutions and projects. This role will be based in Santiago, Santiago Metropolitan Region, Chile.
The purpose of role is to conduct research or perform evaluations of a geological or hydrogeological nature. Create technical reports to inform proposals, budgets, support environmental impact assessments and regulatory compliance for civil infrastructure projects or projects to address environmental challenges. Using knowledge of various scientific disciplines, may collect, synthesize, study, report, and recommend action based on data derived from measurements or observations of soil, water, and other sources.
Responsibilities
- Insights and Reporting: Contribute to the preparation of various data and analytics reports.
- Solutions Analysis: Interpret data and identify possible answers. Involves navigating a wide variety of processes, procedures, and precedents.
- Geoscientific Studies and Interpretations: Contribute to well proposals by analyzing and interpreting geological/geophysical field data.
- Health, Safety, and Environment: Follow the organization's health, safety, and environment (HSE) policies, procedures, and mandatory instructions to identify and mitigate environmental risks and risks to the well-being of self and others in the workplace; instruct the team in safe working methods; identify instances of risky behaviors within the team and take appropriate action, escalating serious issues as appropriate.
- Personal Capability Building: Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation, where relevant, to improve performance and fulfill personal potential. Maintain an understanding of relevant technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.
- Data Collection and Analysis: Collate and analyze data using preset tools, methods, and formats. Involves working independently.
- Sampling and Testing: Collect a range of samples for laboratory testing and undertake testing in accordance with statutory frameworks and best practice to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Project Management: Work within an established project management plan to achieve specific goals.
- Bid Solicitation/Request for Proposal/Tender Preparation: Assist in the preparation of project related technical documents including proposals, environmental reports, technical specifications, and drawings for review.
Skills, Competencies and Qualifications:
- New or recent graduate of a relevant Bachelor of Geologist, Environmental Engineering, Bachelor of Applied Science, or equivalent program
- 0 - 3 years of experience in the environmental engineering field
- Must be flexible with project types and responsibilities
- Collaborate effectively with remote team members on various projects and different time zones
- Must have strong organizational skills, ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining a high degree of attention to detail and willingness to meet challenging deadlines
- Strong Microsoft Office skills
- Excellent English writing and verbal communication skills to effectively express technical information to multiple audiences including subcontractors, field staff, clients, colleagues, etc.
