Global Merchant & Network Services primarily focuses on the businesses that accept our cards. We bring together the businesses that manage and evolve the company's relationships with the millions of merchants around the world that accept American Express, as well as the team that runs the company’s payment network and manages bank partnerships globally.
Network & Acquirer Solutions (NAS) drives the development of new payment services and products for the American Express Global Network Issuers, Acquirers and Merchants and is responsible for the operation of the payment network, safely and securely processing more than ~$1.7 trillion in transaction volume globally each year.
The Global Network team is a critical part of the NAS organization. Our remit spans the maintenance of existing functionality, the development of new products and services, operating the Network and managing the end-to-end partner lifecycle. Our solutions deliver value to American Express’ Card Members, acquirers and partners across the globe, whether proprietary or third-party by facilitating secure and seamless transactions between American Express’ issuers, acquirers and merchants.
About the Role
With the success and broad adoption of Contactless for in-person payments, use cases are expanding beyond traditional retail environments, creating unique experiences for our Merchants and Cardmembers.
The Contactless Growth (Transit, SoftPOS, QR) team is responsible for defining and scaling use cases which drive everyday spend on the Network. Reporting to the VP, Industry & Contactless Solutions, the Director of Contactless Growth (Transit, SoftPOS, QR) is an exciting opportunity for a talented product leader to join a new team focused on defining and scaling emerging use cases. This role will focus on leading a team responsible for identifying opportunities, building partnerships with strategic 3rd party Integrators and driving growth and adoption of use cases, such as Transit “Tap & Go” and SoftPOS “Tap to Mobile” solutions
Primary Responsibilities:
- Collaborating with internal stakeholders to identify, define and prioritize emerging in-person/ use cases which drive everyday spend on the Network (e.g. Tapping to add a Card-on-file with a merchant).
- Use case expansion: Develop and execute enterprise strategies to expand payment solutions beyond traditional retail environments, exploring areas like global mobility and “Tap to Mobile” use cases.
- Partner Management: Build and maintain relationships with 3rd party solution providers.
- Drive Growth: Develop Business cases and prioritize use cases which drive everyday spend and growth
- Performance Monitoring: Define key performance indicators (KPIs) and regularly monitor and report on the success metrics, making data-driven decisions to drive product enhancements.
- Regulatory Compliance and Industry Trends: Stay informed about regulatory requirements and ensure that our products comply with applicable laws and regulations, whilst maintaining a pulse on industry trends to shape the direction of product features and capabilities, including engagement with Industry forums.
Requirements/Qualifications
- Relationship management: Proven ability to develop, establish and maintain high-impact partnerships with external solution providers.
- Effective communicator and influencer: Ability to influence key partners and executive stakeholders. Excellent communication skills, proficient in developing excellent quality presentations and deliverables for an executive audience.
- Project management: Exceptional project management skills with flawless organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Highly collaborative: Ability to collaborate with and build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to deliver value beyond traditional means.
- Cross-functional team leadership: Ability to mobilize and lead cross-functional team collaboration to achieve results in a fast paced, multi-partner environment with constant change. Demonstrated track record for delivering results in complex and highly matrixed organizations.
- Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of payment trends (Contactless, Mobile NFC, Transit, SoftPOS, QR).
Minimum Qualifications
Salary Range: $150,000.00 to $225,000.00 annually + bonus + equity (if applicable) + benefits
