Description
The Chief Development Officer will develop strategies and relationships to promote and fund the mission of LIFE Senior Services and its affiliate organizations. This person will work with the development team to produce and execute a development plan including in-person solicitation, grants, direct mail, events and corporate relationships.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Inspire a collaborative, cross-functional team to focus on donors’ needs and raise funds and awareness for LIFE and its mission.
- Together with the team, create and execute the annual fundraising plan and long-term strategy.
- Together with CEO, cultivate and solicit major gift prospects to support LIFE’s mission.
- Develop materials and campaigns which showcase the role of LIFE in our community.
- Work with team to manage a comprehensive approach to development, including personal solicitation, direct mail, digital outreach, grant writing and research and special events.
- Maintain a consistent dialogue with departments within LIFE and its affiliates to identify needs, stories and opportunities.
- Report on program progress to the leadership team and/or the board.
- Provide donors a clear understanding of the return on their investment in LIFE.
- Monitor philanthropic landscape, industry trends and market conditions to identify opportunities and risks in order to recommend tactical strategies.
- Oversee the volunteer program; devise recruitment strategies and work to ensure volunteers have a meaningful experience.
NON-ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
- Participate in on-going training and compliance activities.
- Adheres to and support the facility’s policies, practices and procedures.
- Accepts assigned duties in a cooperative manner and perform all other related duties as assigned.
- Participates in special projects and performs additional duties as required or assigned.

Requirements
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in public relations, communications, marketing or related major. Five (5) years of professional experience in a development role required.
- Experience in public speaking, in small and large groups, is preferred. Substantial writing and computer experience.
- Strong leadership, strategic planning, analytical skills, quantitative skills, and initiative required.
- Excellent organization, communication and presentation skills; ability to direct and oversee appropriate promotion strategies and integration of services throughout the organization.
- Microsoft Office Suite skills required; social and digital media experience required.
- Career history of proven results, including a proven ability to develop and implement programs with deadlines and assure outcomes.
- Proven ability to work well with colleagues and influence cross-functional teams.
- Ability to manage multiple projects at a time.
- Ability to work with diverse partners and forge collaborations at the local, state, and national level.
CERTIFICATION, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Valid Oklahoma Driver’s License and current auto insurance required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to lift 30 pounds for office work; requires sitting, walking, standing, bending; good hearing and visual capability. Approximately 25% of the work is performed while standing or walking.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The main work environment is in an office setting of a non-profit organization providing a variety of services to seniors and their families. The activity level is high, and the noise level is moderate. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position.
