Position Purpose:
The Lead - Payroll will act as a liaison between our US-based HR, operations, and payroll Teams. Responsible for payroll preparation and processing, updating, and maintaining payroll-related records and the payroll database. This role will produce company-wide reporting, process updates timely within the various HR systems, ensure proper coding of employees for billing purposes, and support timely completion of benefit tasks.
Job Requirements:
- Responsible for the preparation and processing of bi-weekly payroll runs and coordination of international payroll process for a designated line of business
- Directs the analysis, investigation, and correction of errors associated with the editing of payroll data
- Prepares and runs payroll reports to coordinate with Operations personnel on the completion of payroll
- Supervises the processing of payroll adjustments, time corrections, Holiday pay, paychecks, benefit adjustments, special bonus awards, and commission payments
- Responsible for data integrity of time off requests, PTO, bereavement and jury duty
- Responsible for gathering data to coordinate with Corporate Payroll for the preparation of manual checks, garnishments, IRS levies, wage claims, and child support payments in a timely manner and according to federal and state regulations
- Responsible for data integrity of federal, state, local, SUI, SDI taxes, and tax elections
- Responsible for data integrity of payment elections
- Responsible to coordinate with Operations personnel for demotions, promotions, and compensation changes to ensure compliance with federal and state laws
- Facilitate payroll training with Operations personnel
- Assist employees with their payroll concerns and coordinate escalated payroll issue resolution
- Process involuntary and voluntary pay terminations applicable to state law
- Maintain partnership with Operations personnel and HR in relation to payroll functions, payroll processing, and payroll completion
- Partner with Payroll/HR Managers and Operations personnel to conduct payroll investigations and coordinate proper documentation
Qualifications:
- Candidate must possess at least a Vocational Diploma / Associate Degree, in any field.
- 2-3 years of relevant payroll experience, experience in US payroll is an advantage
- Thorough knowledge of payroll systems
- General knowledge of the company benefits plans
- Ability to plan, organize and schedule a workflow to meet rigid payroll deadlines
- Ability to process a high volume of detailed work in a short time frame
- Proficiency with various Windows programs, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Workday
- Ability to pass a drug screen and background check
