Position Responsibilities:
- Supporting pricing management, internal pricing teams and the Pricing Officer in daily pricing strategy activities for all prospective new business and in force clients including high complexity pricing analytics, internal reporting and development / implementation / adoption of key strategic project initiatives.
- Collaborate and consult with the internal & external members of the Sales teams along with other internal departments on pre-sale pricing exercises, repricing situations and client retention efforts across all retirement products.
- Challenge the status quo and work with the team to develop new tools, process efficiencies and automated solutions to meet internal and external customer demands.
- Represent the Underwriting team as a subject matter expert (SME) for assigned projects and pricing related matters.
- Be able to manipulate large and complex data sets and create and modify financial models, ideally leveraging advanced Excel VBA coding capabilities.
- Support and advise internal customers’ need for information and data from pricing and financial models.
- Act independently to develop, support and analyze key strategic pricing initiatives aimed at improving profitability, increasing revenue, risk management, competitiveness and growth through market, cost and profitability analysis.
- Analyze financial and pricing information in relation to our overall business strategy to help determine any related financial risks to the organization.
- Support leaders and the Pricing Officer with project and ad hoc analysis as required.
- Manage relationships with Manulife Aes / CRMs / Internal partners
- Mentor and training of existing and new hires as required
- Back up support for manager/director
- Ability to design and build models to aggregate data from multiple sources/formats, which in turn, drive automated internal and external reporting.
Required Qualifications:
- Superior analytical, communication and written skills with great attention to detail.
- • Excellent interpersonal skills with a high level of professionalism and customer focus.
- Minimum 5+ years of experience within the financial services industry.
- Preferred experience within the retirement industry with a focus on defined contribution and/or defined benefit plans.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Mathematics, Statistics or business-related field.
- Experience with financial reporting, pricing, underwriting or risk analysis, and marketplace analytics.
- Expert knowledge and thorough experience with Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Access alongside proven experience with Excel Macros or VBA coding would be an asset
- Proven big picture thinking and have the desire to drive change that will positively impact business growth and profitability.
- Proactive strategic thinking and willingness to innovate and question the status quo
- Proven organizational, time management and prioritization skills to meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. Be adaptable and open to change and take a leadership role in driving that change independently.
- Manage adhoc project work with ability to see to completion with little or no supervision
- Exceptional work ethic, accountability, team first mentality, positive attitude and eagerness to learn and take on new responsibilities.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate across all levels of departments within the organization.
- Understand the pricing models and be able to advise / assist on improvements or adjustments for complex scenarios
