Mō te Tūranga | About the Role 

The Application Support Engineer plays a vital role in supporting our Financial Crime Technology team. You’ll be part of the FinCrime squad, working alongside our everyday crime fighters to maintain and enhance applications that monitor and alert on suspicious activity.

In this role, you’ll ensure the smooth operation of critical systems by triaging support requests, managing incidents, and resolving issues efficiently. Your work will help keep our applications healthy, responsive, and aligned with business needs—making a real impact in the fight against financial crime.

Please note: - This position requires participation in an afterhours on call support roster.

Some of the key responsibilities include: -

  • Providing first and second-line support for NetReveal/Detica and other financial crime applications.

  • Build effective relationships with stakeholders and assimilate information quickly.

  • Demonstrate determination, resourcefulness, and a sense of purpose in delivering optimal results.

  • Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Troubleshoot issues involving large data sets in files and perform root cause analysis.

  • Manage and resolve incidents using ticketing systems.

  • Participate in the on-call roster to support tier 1 and tier 2 systems.

  • Collaborate with business users to understand issues and deliver accurate, timely solutions.

  • Support and maintain control flows, batch jobs, and scheduled tasks using Control-M.

  • Work with Oracle PL/SQL, SQL, and Bash Shell scripting for system maintenance and optimisation.

  • Write and maintain clear, concise documentation for support procedures and configurations.

  • 5+ years of first/second-line support experience in financial services or similar applications.

  • Hands-on experience with NetReveal, Detica, or other financial crime platforms is highly advantageous.

  • Strong understanding of SQL and database management.

  • Experience with Oracle PL/SQL, Control-M, and Bash Shell scripting.

  • Proven ability to troubleshoot complex issues and perform root cause analysis.

  • Excellent incident management and ticketing system experience.

  • Experience working in containerised environments.

  • Familiarity with Python and SAS for data analysis and automation.

  • Exposure to financial crime compliance processes such as AML, KYC, and transaction monitoring.

  • Ability to write clear and user-friendly documentation.

  • Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills.
