Certified Operating Room Technician - PRN $31.31 per hour

Join our dynamic surgical team at Spanish Peaks Regional Health Center, where your precision, skill, and proactive support directly impact patient outcomes. We’re seeking a Certified Operating Room Technologist who brings expert knowledge of sterile technique and instrumentation to every case.

In this fast-paced role, you’ll anticipate the surgeon’s needs, assist in maintaining a seamless workflow, and ensure every procedure is performed with the highest standard of care and efficiency.

Pay: $31.31 per hour

Requirements

 Essential Job Functions:

• Uses acceptable standards of practice based on the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation or related provider guidelines.

• Work independently by displaying expert knowledge of surgical instrumentation for a variety of cases.

• Understands surgical techniques, recognizes and clearly identifies breaks in surgical technique. 

• Works cooperatively with the circulating nurse to assist the surgeon to perform cases in a timely manner and organizes work to reduce downtime between cases.

• Promotes a climate in which patients can act in their own interest and intervenes when the patient is unable to do so.

• Sets up instruments and equipment that is required for procedures. 

• Performs SPD assignments, ensuring instrument sterilization and instrument inventory are available for surgery assignments.

• Verifies correct count of instruments before and at the end of each case.

• Provides assistance as directed with specimens, monitoring medications and assisting with dressings.

• Perform other functions as required to fulfill the expectations of the Certified Operating Room Technologist.

Minimum Required Education/Experience: High School Diploma required. Graduation from an accredited surgical technology program. Minimum of two years work experience in general surgery and/or specialized surgery specialties is required.

Note: An acceptable combination of education, training and experience that provides the above knowledge, abilities and skills may be substituted.

Necessary Special Requirements: Must obtain annual flu vaccination and any job-specific immunizations. Required to submit to a tuberculosis screening process.

Licenses or Certificates: Current Basic Life Support/CPR certification (can be obtained at the facility)
