Job Summary: Under limited supervision: Serves as project leader for the department by performing and assisting others in performing the overall processing functions for Automated Clearing House (ACH).
Essential Functions: Performing Functions
1. Knowledgeable and ability to perform all Clerk III functions and responsibilities and additional responsibilities to include:
• In-depth knowledge of ACH rules and regulations. Able to answer questions returns on and resolve problems related to ACH. Process of ACH Pep -F and Fedline.
• General knowledge of Pep+ Software
• Complete understanding to run and distribute morning reports
• Process to run Unresolved returns, Automated Dishonors, Recalls
• Log and process death notifications (DNE)
• Process Notice of Reclamation's
• Process of Request for Refund and the tracers
• Process "Without Entry" items
• Track, process, and assess monthly totals reports
• Assist with the entries testing process for any changes or upgrades to the system, including New Year.
• Serve as the department a backup for vacations and illnesses in department and on new functions, tasks and duties.
• Validates department policies and procedures, updating or writing as needed
• Corresponds with branches to survey department; customer service level
• Participate in interviewing applicants for the Return Items Department.
Marginal Functions:
2. Perform additional job responsibilities as required including assisting with 10% customer inquiries and problem resolution in the following areas: Return Items, VOD, Saving Unposted, Return Item Prep-desk, Posting Rejects, and Adjustments.
Minimum Knowledge Prior Work Experience and Skills needed to Perform Job Functions:
Typically 3 or more years of progressively more responsible work experiences where he/she has gained in-depth knowledge of all processing and servicing functions of the unit. Requires proficiency in Windows/Microsoft Office, general computer software and other office equipment. Excellent analytical, communication, research, organization and interpersonal skills required. Some college level classes in business or related subjects preferred.
Physical Demands:
Sitting for long periods keying or retrieving data using a PC keyboard. May be required to lift items up to 25 lbs. Must be mobile enough to move between and around work area.
Mental Demands:
Utilize knowledge of bank products, policies and legal requirements to process work assignments and explain procedures to staff members.
Prioritize work assignments to ensure established time frames are met.
Pay attention to details to ensure required information is accurately recorded in system.
Ability to identify and determine how to resolve situations which may pose a potential risk to the bank or customer.
Equipment Used to Perform Functions:
Various machines, PC, telephone, fax, printer, copier and calculator
Decision Making (Give examples of decisions and recommendations made by incumbent):
Determine best methods to employ to resolve customer inquiries.
Identify and notify supervisor or manager of the potential risks a delay in services or inaccurate transaction may have.
Perform all research necessary to correct identified errors.
