A non-exempt position responsible for the testing of Lab samples within a Physicians’ Office

  • Provides daily lab reports for the clinical staff
  • Maintain a “Just in Time” inventory as well as a weekly supply review of expiration dates
  • Communicates and updates lab and clinical staff regarding testing status.
  • Manage daily review of “Work in Progress” utilizing the Orchard software
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Participates in a system wide team approach through open and timely communication
  • Recognize, receive and validate co-workers input
  • Performs proficiency testing successfully and on time
  • Performs monthly, daily and quarterly maintenance on all analyzers
  • Performs manufacturers’ required Quality Control on all analyzers and informs Lab Manager of any discrepancies
  • Maintains compliance with OSHA/HIPAA and SOP’s
  • Monday-Friday, Full-time 9am-6pm


Requirements

  

Attendance: Regular, reliable, and punctual attendance is an essential function of this position. The ability to consistently adhere to scheduled work hours and fulfill job responsibilities in a timely manner is critical to the success of the role and the overall operations of the team.


Education: Successful completion of medical technologist or medical laboratory technician certification.  Associate or Bachelor's degree in clinical laboratory science.  Must present High School diploma or equivalent to meet CLIA requirements.


Experience: Minimum two years laboratory experience. Prefer additional experience in a clinic setting where there is patient interaction. Proof of current health record with the appropriate immunizations to work in the health care field.


Certification: MT/CLS (ASCP) or equivalent, MLT(ASCP) or equivalent


Technical Skills: Knowledge of medical laboratory principles, standards, applications and tests. Knowledge of use and maintenance of laboratory equipment and instruments. Knowledge of safety, infection control, and quality assurance policies and regulations. Skill in applying appropriate testing procedures. Skill in proper use, preventative maintenance and repair. Skill in appropriate quality control and confidentiality procedures. Ability to exercise independent judgment, problem solving, making decisions and using discretion in the reporting and distribution of test results. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with patients, families and staff. Ability to recognize workload effectively and work quickly with a high degree of accuracy using manual/finger dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
