Summary
The PIT Training Lead plays a critical role in supporting operational excellence and safety within the distribution and fulfillment center. This position is responsible for leading, developing, and executing Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) training programs for associates across all shifts. The ideal candidate has strong PIT operational knowledge, training experience, and a passion for safety, compliance, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
Conduct hands-on training, certification, and evaluations for all PIT equipment including forklifts, order pickers, reach trucks, pallet jacks, and other powered equipment.
•Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for PIT operations and safety standards within the facility.
•Develop and maintain PIT training materials, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and documentation in accordance with OSHA regulations and company policies.
•Partner with safety, HR, and operations teams to ensure all PIT operators are trained, certified, and operating equipment safely and efficiently.
•Monitor and track training records and certification renewals using Learning Management Systems (LMS) or internal tracking tools.
•Perform regular audits and observations to assess operator compliance and identify coaching or retraining needs.
•Support new hire orientation and onboarding processes with focused PIT safety and operational training.
•Lead continuous improvement initiatives related to PIT training effectiveness, safety culture, and operational performance.
•Investigate PIT-related incidents or near misses and provide retraining or corrective action as necessary.

- •Stay updated with OSHA regulations, ANSI standards, and best practices in PIT operations and safety.
- Conduct Refresher Training, Document and upload into tracking system
- Understand Fall Protection regulation and required PPE.
- Must be able to conduct Fall Protection Training, inspect fall protection PPE and document inspections/training.
- Must be able to conduct training on Scissor List and Little Joe’s.
Qualifications:
•High school diploma or equivalent.
•2+ years of experience operating powered industrial trucks in a warehouse or distribution environment.
•1+ year of experience in a training or leadership role preferred.
•Certified PIT Trainer or ability to obtain certification.
•Strong knowledge of OSHA and PIT safety regulations.
•Excellent communication, coaching, and interpersonal skills.
•Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
•Comfortable working in a fast-paced, physically demanding warehouse environment.
•Proficient with Microsoft Office and familiarity with learning/training software a plus.
Work Environment:
•Warehouse and distribution center environment with seasonal temperature variations.
•Regular exposure to powered equipment, elevated work platforms, and moving machinery.
