As a Commercial Truck and Mobile Outside Sales Representative, you will be responsible for expanding our presence in the market by selling our wide range of services performed on commercial trucks, trailers, and other related services to fleet operators, independent contractors, logistics companies, and distributors. This role requires a deep understanding of the commercial vehicle industry and the ability to tailor solutions that meet the specific operational needs of customers. You will be expected to build long-term customer relationships, increase market share, and drive the overall growth of our product portfolio.
Key Responsibilities:
New Business Development:
- Prospect and develop new customer accounts in the commercial truck and trailer market, including trucking fleets, logistics companies, construction businesses, and transportation providers.
- Research and identify potential leads through industry databases, networking, and cold outreach.
Account Management:
- Establish and nurture long-term relationships with existing customers by maintaining regular contact and understanding their evolving fleet needs.
- Provide ongoing support, including troubleshooting and follow-up services, ensuring the highest levels of customer satisfaction.
Sales Presentations & Demonstrations:
- Conduct in-person meetings, highlighting the advantages of our services we provide on trucks, trailers, and associated equipment.
- Assist customers in selecting the right services based on their business requirements.
- Present financing options and assist in securing any necessary funding for large fleet repairs.
Industry Expertise & Product Knowledge:
- Stay up-to-date on industry trends, technological advancements in trucking (e.g., electric trucks, autonomous vehicles), and competitor offerings.
- Become a subject-matter expert on the technical specifications of trucks and trailers and their maintenance intervals and scheduled repairs.
Negotiation & Contract Management:
- Lead contract negotiations for large fleets, ensuring favorable terms while maintaining company profitability.
- Collaborate with the General Manager to finalize sales agreements, including extended warranties, service packages, and custom modifications.
Market Analysis:
- Conduct regular analysis of the competitive landscape to identify new business opportunities and industry shifts.
- Develop strategies to position our services effectively within the regional market.
Customer Retention:
- Provide post-sale support to ensure customers are satisfied with their purchases and receive assistance with any issues that arise.
- Maintain an understanding of customer fleet operations to offer ongoing product upgrades, accessories, and service solutions.
Collaboration & Reporting:
- Work closely with internal teams (service, parts, and logistics) to ensure seamless customer experiences and efficient repair processes.
- Keep accurate records of sales activities and customer interactions in CRM systems.
- Provide regular sales forecasts, pipeline updates, and market insights to management.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of outside sales experience, specifically in the commercial vehicle, truck, or trailer industry.
- Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of the commercial truck and trailer markets, including products like semi-trucks, box trucks, trailers.
- Sales Skills: Proven ability to meet or exceed sales goals, with a strong track record in new business development and account retention.
- Communication Skills: Exceptional communication, presentation, and negotiation skills, with the ability to interact with fleet managers and directors.
- Technical Acumen: Solid knowledge of trucking specifications, fleet management software, and the unique needs of various industries.
- Travel Requirements: Ability to travel locally for client meetings, and industry events as required.
- Driver’s License: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with fleet management software.
- Knowledge of state and federal regulations regarding vehicle emissions, load limits, and transportation compliance (e.g., FMCSA).
- Technical background in mechanics, engineering, or automotive industries.
