Job Description 

The Banquets team at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre plays a vital role in delivering exceptional service and unforgettable experiences. We’re currently hiring full-time and part-time Bar Porters to support smooth and efficient beverage service across a wide range of events. From preparing and stocking bar setups to assisting Bartenders during service, this behind-the-scenes role is essential to our success. Successful candidates will be organized, safety-conscious, physically capable, and flexible to work rotating shifts, including evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays. 

General Duties Include: 

  • Prior to the Event: 
    • Signing the requisition and receiving liquor and beer from the stockroom; transporting items using an electric pump truck. 
    • Retrieving the bar cart from the stockroom and setting it up at the event venue. 
    • Cleaning, organizing, and stocking the bar with beverages (e.g., soft drinks), stir sticks, napkins, and other supplies. 
    • Unloading beverage cases at the event venue. 
  • During Event: 
    • Cleaning and polishing glasses. 
    • Returning to the stockroom as needed to restock beverages, glasses, supplies, or ice for the Bartender. 
  • After Event: 
    • Assisting with cleanup, including placing empty bottles into boxes. 
    • Loading boxes onto a skid. 
    • Shrink-wrapping the skid. 
    • Moving the skid to the loading docks. 

Job Skills and Requirements 

  • Preference will be given to candidates with previous bar porter experience 
  • Smart Serve Certification is required. Please note that the minimum age for handling alcohol is 18 years 
  • Pump truck and tugger certification is an asset 
  • Good communication and organizational skills 
  • This position includes some heavy lifting 
  • Shift work on evenings, overnights, weekends and Holidays 
  • In addition to several shows throughout the year, candidates must be available to work during the Autoshow 
  • Candidates must have their own safety shoes
