Head of Strategic Operations B2C

Overall Description: 
We are a fast-growing fintech on the path to becoming a fully licensed financial institution. As we continue to grow, we are seeking Head of Operations to lead our operational functions and regulatory transformation. This role is critical in ensuring operational excellence, driving automation, and aligning with local and international regulatory requirements as we scale. You’ll work closely with leadership to build robust processes and manage mission-critical areas like SPEI operations, back-office operations, and reconciliations. You must bring a strategic mindset, leadership acumen, and a deep understanding of the Mexican financial ecosystem.   Main responsibilities 

• Design and implement scalable operational processes to support rapid growth and regulatory compliance.
• Oversee daily back-office operations, including reconciliations, settlement, and clearing processes.
• Ensure full compliance with Mexican financial regulations (CNBV, Banxico, etc.), especially around SPEI and compensation chamber operations (e.g., Prosa, Visa).
• Drive automation and systems optimization across the operation stack in collaboration with tech and product teams.
• Serve as the liaison with regulatory bodies during the banking license process and ongoing audits.
• Build and lead a high-performing cross-functional operations team with a focus on strategic execution.
• Design and manage frameworks for risk mitigation, process control, and data integrity.
• Collaborate with Finance, Compliance, Legal, and Product to ensure seamless execution of regulatory and business initiatives.
• Provide strategic leadership to the operations team, aligning operational objectives with the company's overall goals and mission.
• Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for operations teams and monitor performance against targets.
• Prepare regular reports and presentations for executive management, highlighting operational performance, challenges, and opportunities.

The KPIs you and your team will be responsible for:

• Average resolution time
• Reconciliation accuracy (%)
• SPEI transactional operability
• Automation of key operational workflows (% of processes automated)
• Operational cost efficiency (cost-to-serve metrics)
• Successful regulatory audits and progress toward obtaining the banking license

Who you are: 

• Financial or banking experience is essential, particularly in leadership roles within operations, COO, or back-office operations.
• You have deep experience in generating regulatory reports and engaging in discussions with authorities.
• You have experience in managing reconciliation for clearing and settlement.
• Being based in Mexico and having led projects with the Mexican regulatory authorities is essential for this role.
• Knowledge of SPEI is desirable.
