This position is a member of our Air Monitoring Division.

 

HERE’S WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Compile, review, and validate moderately complex ambient air quality and meteorological data measured at air monitoring stations throughout Texas; evaluate data quality and determine data compliance with project quality objectives; assess quality control results and ambient data measurements in concert with operator notes, meteorological conditions, and visual inspection using specialized software; assist with the identification and resolution of data issues; communicate with, and provide assistance to staff, contractors, and operators concerning the collection and validation of ambient air data and data quality.
  • Retrieve, process, verify, and report air monitoring data for transfer to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and agency databases. Assist with the review and maintenance of information associated with the management and validation of air quality data. Maintain monitor group information using the Texas Air Monitoring Information System (TAMIS).
  • Compile, provide, and/or assist with summaries and interpretation of air quality data and related information for agency staff and/or external customers. Review, update, and assist with the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Quality Assurance Project Plans (QAPPs), and other guidance/procedural documentation.
 

Qualifications

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in engineering, basic science, mathematics, environmental science, computer science or a related field, plus one year of full-time experience in performing engineering, technical, or related assignments.

OR

  • A master’s degree from an accredited college or university in the specified fields.

Substitute Qualifications

  • Passing the Fundamentals of Engineering examination may be substituted for six months of the required experience. 

One year of full-time experience in performing engineering, technical, or related assignments may be substituted for each year of the required education.

 

KEY QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with managing, verifying, summarizing, or reporting air pollution (or air quality) data.
  • Experience with reviewing technical data for quality assurance.
  • Experience with ambient air monitoring programs or equipment.
  • Experience with high volume data processing.

Work Schedule

Standard business hours are M-F, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Individual and work group schedule determined by the TCEQ Air Monitoring Division.
