PURPOSE

FWD's GenAI and Digital Platforms team leverages emerging technologies to support our digital strategy across all FWD markets. As part of this team, the Assistant Manager will contribute to the development and implementation of Generative AI features that enhance product and service experiences. This role is suited for a hands-on, technically skilled individual with a strong interest in Generative AI and a passion for improving how people engage with insurance.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Assist in the development of GenAI-enabled applications and services across mobile and web platforms.

• Implement user interface components and back-end services under guidance from senior developers or leads.

• Support integration of APIs, server-side logic, and database connectivity to enable core GenAI functionality.

• Support senior developers or leads in collaborating with product owners and UX/UI designers to translate requirements into functioning features.

• Contribute towards technical specification reviews and documentation of development tasks.

• Support defined project objectives by writing, testing and debugging application code.

• Contribute to application testing and deployment processes along defined scope in collaboration with QA and DevOps teams.

• Stay informed of GenAI trends and emerging tools such as LLMs and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) to support experimentation and prototyping.

• Participate in sprint planning, standups, and code reviews as part of an agile development team.

• Support data-driven decision making by implementing tracking and analytics based on defined tagging schemas.

• Assist in building automation and development pipelines for improved efficiency and scalability.

• Coordinate with peers across different project teams or countries on assigned deliverables.

Delivery

• Contribute to the development of high-quality, reusable code in alignment with Group architecture, security, and coding standards

• Deliver assigned application features or components with attention to performance, reliability, and maintainability

• Follow established development and deployment processes to ensure consistency and quality across projects

• Actively participate in code reviews and testing activities to support overall team delivery standards

• Ensure proper documentation and version control for all deliverables

Relationships

• Collaborate with internal development teams, product owners, and UX/UI designers to support GenAI feature implementation

• Communicate proactively with business users (e.g. Product, Operations, Customer Service) to clarify functional requirements and technical considerations

• Align task progress and priorities with project managers and team leads through regular updates

• Work jointly with QA, DevOps, and IT infrastructure teams to ensure stable development, testing, and deployment workflows

• Assist in coordinating with external vendors or partners as assigned, under guidance from senior team members

Systems and Controls 

• Adhere to QA standards and make recommendations (e.g. process improvements).

• Document and implement lessons learned.

• Implement appropriate measurements and metrics for management reporting.

DECISION MAKING

• Make sound technical decisions within the scope of assigned tasks, aligned with established architecture and development standards

• Escalate complex design or architectural considerations to senior team members for guidance

• Prioritize and manage individual workload effectively to meet deadlines and delivery expectations

• Provide input during team discussions to support decision-making on feature implementation and technical feasibility

• Contribute to quality and usability improvements with a focus on end-user experience across supported platforms

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE

• Degree in engineering or equivalent practical experience

• Demonstratable experience in implementing GenAI solutions at enterprise level
  Degree in engineering or equivalent practical experience

• 4 years + of full stack software development experience

• Software development experience in one or more general purpose programming languages (including Python)

• Experience with developing front web applications, native mobile apps and integration with Headless CMS platforms and API services

• Startup experience preferred

• Expertise in building mobile application using React Native

• Expertise in building secure, scalable RESTFul web services

• Experience with agile development methodologies, Test Driven Development (TDD) and CI/CD

• Experience with cloud technologies

• Experience delivering multi-lingual/internationalized solutions

KNOWLEDGE & TECHNICAL SKILLS

• 4+ years of full stack software development experience

• Generative AI

• AWS and Azure

• Identity and Access Management

• Experience with infrastructure-as-code and automation tools such as Terraform and any knowledge around containerisation, orchestration, service mesh

• Strong hands-on knowledge of Javascript, Python for back end applications

• Strong hands-on knowledge of front end technologies

• Would be valuable to have Mobile technology: Android, iOS (Swift / Objective C)

• Experience in implementing tracking and analytics with Google Analytics tagging and setup

• Experience with implementing and supporting Google Optimize AB testing framework on web applications
