A Brief Overview
The Manager, Accounts Payable manages all accounts payable activities ensuring timely and accurate processing of checks and EFT transactions and compliance to policies and procedures, performs managerial duties, develops and mentors associates, and recommends and participates in the development and implementation of process improvements that may extend beyond the area of oversight.
What you will do
- Performs supervisory duties, including hiring, training, evaluating, coaching, direct reports. Fosters a positive and engaged work environment. Mentors associates and provides guidance on associate development.
- Ensures compliance to all internal procedures and policies, IRS regulations/ requirements and with Sarbanes-Oxley procedures.
- Works with other functional areas in RGA to achieve efficient and effective accounting practices and procedures and responds to requests from other functional areas on various inquires.
- Audits invoices and expense reports for accuracy and compliance with company policy.
- Approves PeopleSoft vendor and claims payee ID files. Set-up and verification of A/P controls groups.
- Participates in design and testing of system enhancements and upgrades.
- Reviews, analyzes, and reconciles various accounts.
- Coordinates efforts with internal and external auditors in relation to integrity of cash receipt and disbursement controls and performs procedural updates as necessary.
- Administers the 1099-Reporting process.
- Ensures timely remittance of unclaimed property reports (Escheat).
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) in Accounting/Finance or equivalent related work experience
- 5+ Years experience in accounting/finance
- 3+ Years accounts payable experience
- Basic Word, intermediate Excel and SQL/Query skills
- Advanced interpersonal skills, demonstrating the ability to manage, mentor and develop support staff.
- Competent knowledge of proper internal controls and the ability to evaluate and implement change
- Competent knowledge of accounting/finance theory and application and general ledger reporting.
- Ability to foster a teamwork and customer service-focused environment; Ability to foster customer service
- Flexibility, take initiative, and demonstrate accountability; Ability to quickly adapt to new methods, work under tight deadlines and fast paced environment.
- Intermediate verbal and written communication skills demonstrating ability to share and impart knowledge.
- Intermediate level of investigative, analytical and problem solving skills; Ability to translate business needs and problems into viable/accepted solutions
- Intermediate presentation skills
- Ability to set goals and handle multiple tasks, clients, and projects simultaneously; Ability to appropriately balance priorities, deadlines, and deliverables; Ability to balance detail with departmental goals/objectives
- Ability to work well within a team environment and participate in department/team projects
- Basic negotiating and persuasion skills
Preferred:
- PeopleSoft, Coupa or other accounting software applications experience
- Unclaimed property reporting experience
- Insurance/Reinsurance experience
- 1+ Years supervisory or management experience

Compensation Range:
$87,050.00 - $131,450.00 AnnualBase pay varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and market location. In addition, RGA provides an annual bonus plan that includes all roles and some positions are eligible for participation in our long-term equity incentive plan. RGA also maintains a full range of health, retirement, and other employee benefits.
