Mission & Objectives

  • Drive Financial Leadership & Strategy: Shape and execute financial strategies that enhance business performance, profitability, and long-term value creation. In close coordination with FP&A head. 
  • Lead Decarbonization Finance: Oversee financial viability for decarbonization initiatives, ensuring investment decisions align with sustainability goals.
  • Monitor Market & Competition: Provide competitive financial analysis, with a strong focus on investment trends, industry benchmarking, and strategic positioning.
  • Support Capex Planning & Execution: Lead capital allocation, ensuring financial oversight and optimization of investment decisions. In coordination with segment CTO team. 
  • Strengthen Financial Reporting & Advisory role: Serve as a key advisor to the Segment CFO, for key executable action plan or key messages.
  • Support in enhance Finance Processes & Team Development: Improve operational efficiency, implement best practices, and mentor Finance teams for growth and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

Decarbonization & Sustainability Strategy 

  • Lead the financial strategy for decarbonization, driving investment decisions and ensuring long-term viability.
  • Own the financial oversight of decarb initiatives, maintaining an updated view of project returns—capex, timing, revenue, opex, etc.
  • Direct cross-functional teams in shaping the Flat Europe finance view on opex cost implications of decarb footprint scenarios.
  • Act as the key Finance representative, ensuring strategic alignment and clear communication of decarb priorities to Group management.

Market & Competition Analysis: 

  • Provide oversight for competitor analysis, focusing on financial KPIs, strategic initiatives, operational insights, and investment trends.
  • Ensure timely delivery of quarterly reports and actionable insights to inform leadership decision-making, particularly regarding competitor investment patterns and market positioning.

Joint Ventures & Executive Support:

  • Provide strategic financial support to the Segment CFO and CEO in their roles on JV boards, ensuring alignment with broader segment objectives.
  • Facilitate financial reporting and governance oversight to support key decision-making for JV entities.

Strategic Initiative Oversight & Capex Controlling:

  • Oversee Capex planning and execution, ensuring financial viability and alignment with long-term goals.
  • Guide teams in tracking actual spend versus budget and coordinating automation initiatives for Capex reporting.
  • Oversee execution of key strategic initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Coordinate with CTO on capex and cash flow planning. 

Financial Strategy, Business Performance & Reporting:

  • Serve as a strategic advisor to the Segment CFO, driving value creation initiatives (e.g., CO2, hedging, STIP, LTIP) while ensuring financial oversight of the Flat Europe Segment and Clusters.
  • Oversee key Finance reporting needs, including Quarterly BAR, Annual Strategy, and Business Plan Meetings, delivering actionable insights.
  • Support ad hoc financial projects, collaborating with Government Affairs, Group Treasury, CCM, Corporate Communications, Investor Relations, and Strategy teams.

Finance Process Improvement & People Development:

  • Participate in shaping the evolution of Segment Finance processes, improving efficiency and service delivery to stakeholders.
  • Support knowledge-sharing Finance team development and cross-functional collaboration initiatives.
  • Support in implementing best practices in financial reporting and governance, ensuring organizational effectiveness.

Key Qualifications

  • 12–15 years’ finance experience in Manufacturing preferably steel, mining, or heavy industry
  • Strong background in financial strategy, decarbonization, and advanced financial modeling
  • Skilled in Capex budging, planning, market/competitive analysis, and supporting joint venture businesses
  • Excellent at influencing and advising senior leaders to steer the business
  • High integrity, analytical mindset, and adaptability
