The School of Nursing and Midwifery has an exciting opportunity for a Nursing and Midwifery Council Registered Adult Nurse to join an innovative and forwarding thinking team as a full-time permanent Teaching Fellow in Adult Nursing.

The successful applicant will teach, assess, and support our student nurses and apprentices across our contemporary Future Nurse curriculum.
They will:
- Lead module teams to develop and apply inspiring evidence-based techniques and content which foster enthusiasm, understanding and critical enquiry amongst learners, through both face to face and online teaching delivery.
- Deliver evidence-based clinical skills teaching.
- Provide empowering, motivating, and timely constructive feedback to learners supporting them to achieve their potential and become independent professionals.
- Provide excellent pastoral, clinical practice, and academic support, enabling learners to thrive and become independent professionals who are proud to be part of Birmingham City University.
- Communicate and collaborate effectively with team colleagues to deliver an excellent learning experience.
- Meet with learners who are experiencing academic or personal difficulties, provide support and where relevant link them with appropriate University and wider support services to improve their experience.
- Contribute to the core delivery of our nursing courses including the delivery of clinical skills teaching, marking and assessing learners and assist with recruitment and selection processes relating to student nurse admissions thus supporting the future nursing workforce.
Essential Criteria:
- Hold a current Nursing and Midwifery Council registration in Adult Nursing.
- Educated to Degree level in a clinically relevant subject area.
- Experience of delivering teaching/training in healthcare.
- Experience of supporting nursing students/apprentices in practice.
Desirable Criteria:
- A teaching, assessing and/or education qualification and/or NMC teacher status and/or HEA Fellow status.
- Previous Higher Education teaching experience.
- Hold a relevant Masters or PhD in a relevant subject area.
Successful applicants will if necessary be supported through teacher development training opportunities and will be allocated a dedicated mentor to support them through the transition into this position. There is a strong ethos of professional development within the School of Nursing and Midwifery up to and including Doctorate level.
Our facilities are in a beautiful, leafy campus in the Edgbaston area of Birmingham, next door to the Botanical Gardens in Seacole Campus, with excellent transport connections.
