Software Engineer, Autonomous Fleet Orchestration
Anduril Industries
Posted about 3 hours ago
Anduril Industries is a defense technology company with a mission to transform U.S. and allied military capabilities with advanced technology. By bringing the expertise, technology, and business model of the 21st century’s most innovative companies to the defense industry, Anduril is changing how military systems are designed, built and sold. Anduril’s family of systems is powered by Lattice OS, an AI-powered operating system that turns thousands of data streams into a realtime, 3D command and control center. As the world enters an era of strategic competition, Anduril is committed to bringing cutting-edge autonomy, AI, computer vision, sensor fusion, and networking technology to the military in months, not years.
ABOUT THE TEAM
Anduril is seeking Software Engineers to build the core Command and Control software for our Lattice platform. This team is responsible for bridging the gap between hardware and human operators. Our software runs both on the vehicles (managing real-time telemetry, health, and autopilot tasks) and on the Ground Control Station (enabling operators to plan missions, visualize maps, manage massive fleets, and orchestrate complex autonomous behaviors).
We are currently scaling our core products to support massive, high-priority defense programs. We are also pioneering the integration of GenAI agents into our systems, allowing operators to direct autonomous assets using natural language interfaces.
This is a highly autonomous role where you will build, ship, and see your code run on physical hardware deployed on the front lines of global conflicts.
What You’ll Do (Your 3, 6, and 12-Month Impact)
- Day 1 to Month 3: Get up to speed on our tech stack (primarily Go, TypeScript/React, and Python), understand our hardware-in-the-loop (HITL) testing environments, and begin committing code to core C2 repositories.
- Month 6: Own the end-to-end integration and delivery of at least one major new capability for operators in the field. Execute cleanly and rapidly.
- Month 12: Partner with engineering and product leadership to scope, design, and deliver entirely new product capabilities from scratch. Take complete ownership of a product domain and mentor junior engineers on the team.
Required Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in a software engineering role with a strong foundation in computer science fundamentals.
- A Language-Agnostic Mindset: While we primarily build in Go, we care far more about your engineering fundamentals than your knowledge of a specific syntax. If you don't know Go, you are eager to pick it up.
- If you are Backend-focused: You excel at systems design, data processing, distributed systems, and API design.
- If you are Full-Stack/Frontend-focused: You are a "middleware integration" specialist. You are incredibly strong with React and TypeScript, and you care deeply about how real-time backend data flows seamlessly into an operator's UI.
- A Bias for Action: You thrive in low-structure, high-autonomy environments. You have a desire to collaborate closely with team members to deliver novel, rapid-deployment software capabilities directly to military operators.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience with distributed systems and cloud computing (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Experience building complex, low-latency data visualization systems (e.g., mapping, geospatial data, or real-time telemetry feeds).
- Experience with Hardware-in-the-Loop (HITL) or Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) testing frameworks for robotics, aerospace, or automotive systems.
- You’ve built or invented something of your own (a startup, an open-source tool, a game, or an app).
- Familiarity with modern infrastructure and deployment tools (NixOS, Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes).
