Job Description

Position Purpose: 

Under supervision, performs work involving the cleaning and housekeeping of buildings, offices, shops, garages,
and/or locker rooms in assigned locations. Specific duties may vary with assignments and may include minor
outdoor work. Work is performed in assigned environments with exposure to all types of weather when working
outdoors; generally works weekdays first shift hours or second shift hours, with assigned overtime. In addition to
the normal industrial environment, some locations may include exposure to sewage, confined spaces, gases and
odors.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities: 

• Floor and stair maintenance – daily, weekly, or as needed:
• Wet or dry mop, use floor scrubber, strip old wax, seal and wax.
• Vacuum carpeting, clean, replace area rugs, shampoo as directed.
• Bathroom/locker room maintenance – daily, weekly, or as needed:
• Scrub and disinfect sinks, toilets, showers, fixtures, floors daily;
• Wash walls, lockers, benches, etc.
• Maintain supply of towels, tissue, soap, etc.
• Check, change, empty trash containers and material collectors in assigned areas.
• Empty and clean ashtrays, material collectors, wall ashtrays; around lens cleaning stations.
• Wash windows, walls, ceilings, glass partitions, and mirrors.
• Dust furniture, desks and other horizontal surfaces, radiators, file cabinets, sills, mopboards, etc.
• Use automatic scrubber daily in powerhouse cleaning.
• Remove snow at entrance ways, sidewalks.
• Clean up spilled material and debris.
• Pick up charts for Administration, pick up supplies, move furniture.

Qualifications

Education/Experience/Background: 

• High school diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent preferred.
• 1 year of general housekeeping/maintenance work in an industrial environment

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: 

• Understand written & verbal communication
• Requires superior interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with clients, employees, etc.
• Ability to operate within a team atmosphere.
• Ability to shift priorities frequently and effectively perform under pressure.

Required Certification/Licenses/Training: 

• Valid driver’s license

Physical Requirements: 

• While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
• The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell.
• The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.

Additional Information

Pay Range: $15 to $22 per hour
