Senior Project Construction Manager
COMPA Industries is searching for qualified candidates for a Senior Project Construction Manager position supporting SRNS in Aiken, SC.
Pay: $80–$90/hr

Candidates must have extensive construction management experience supporting complex, multi-million-dollar construction projects, preferably in a DOE, NNSA, federal, nuclear, industrial, or large capital project environment.
This role requires a senior-level construction leader with strong experience in construction execution strategies, subcontract administration, capital project construction, cost and schedule control, constructability reviews, construction contract development, safety, quality, field execution, and project team leadership.
About the Role
The Senior Project Construction Manager will manage all aspects of construction projects and maintenance activities across multiple complex, multi-million-dollar projects critical to SRS operations. This position is responsible for physical construction execution from conceptual design through completion, with primary responsibility for safety, quality, schedule, and cost.
The selected candidate will provide leadership to project teams, construction personnel, subcontractors, and matrixed support organizations while ensuring construction work is completed safely, within cost and schedule requirements, and in accordance with project objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of assigned construction projects and maintenance activities from conceptual design through completion.
- Ensure construction projects are completed safely, within budget, on schedule, and at the required quality level.
- Develop construction execution strategies for capital projects.
- Develop acquisition strategies for subcontracted construction and design/build contracts.
- Support the development of large construction contracts.
- Provide occasional oversight of large construction subcontract execution.
- Develop and maintain subcontract functional policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Support development and standardization of subcontract documents.
- Support constructability reviews and Title II support for capital projects.
- Establish and control cost, schedule, and technical baselines.
- Provide effective management of project staff and matrix personnel to control baselines.
- Assign and manage personnel serving on project teams and construction review boards.
- Provide construction input during conceptual design, design, construction, turnover, and completion phases.
- Optimize manpower and construction efficiency across assigned projects.
- Manage professional and nonexempt employees, including development, motivation, performance review, and salary administration.
- Deliver concise and accurate oral and written presentations to internal and external customers regarding construction status, changes, risks, issues, and corrective actions.
- Analyze complex construction problems and develop innovative corrective action strategies.
- Perform risk analyses and provide decision authority for defining and approving corrective actions.
- Maintain a strong safety-first culture and stop work when unsafe conditions are identified.
Required Qualifications
Candidates must meet one of the following education and experience combinations:
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline and 15–17 years of practical construction experience; or
- Associate degree and 17–19 years of practical construction experience; or
- High school diploma and 19–21 years of practical construction experience.
Required Skills
- In-depth knowledge of construction, cost, scheduling, subcontract administration, and construction strategy development.
- Strong understanding of project management and project planning at the tactical level.
- Knowledge of operations, maintenance, project startup, construction management, and construction subcontracts.
- Ability to manage complex, multi-million-dollar construction projects.
- Ability to establish and manage cost, schedule, and technical baselines.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage project staff, construction teams, subcontractors, and matrixed personnel.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to present complex technical, organizational, schedule, cost, and financial issues to internal and external customers.

- Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE “Q” security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior DOE, NNSA, SRS, federal, nuclear, or large capital project experience.
- Experience developing large construction contracts for line-item capital projects.
- Experience with oversight or management of subcontract / STR programs at Savannah River Site.
- Experience developing STR policies and procedures at Savannah River Site.
- Experience supporting capital project constructability reviews.
- Experience with subcontract acquisition strategies, design/build contracts, and subcontract execution oversight.
- Candidates who have possessed an active DOE “L” or “Q” clearance within the past two years are preferred.
Work Schedule
A 40-hour work week is scheduled. SRNS utilizes various schedules, including 5/8s, 4/10s, and 9/80s. Work weeks exclude SRNS holidays. Each workday includes a 30-minute lunch. Overtime may be expected at times to meet deliverables and will be used at the discretion of the manager.
Security Requirements
Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE “Q” security clearance. An active DOE clearance is not initially required to perform assigned duties. After award, the selected candidate will be notified when to apply for a clearance based on specific work assignments.
Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is a senior construction management professional with deep experience leading large, complex construction projects from planning through turnover. The best fit will have experience with capital projects, subcontract strategy, construction contract development, constructability reviews, cost and schedule baselines, field execution, subcontractor oversight, and safety-first construction leadership.
Candidates with prior SRS, DOE, NNSA, federal, nuclear, or large industrial capital project experience will be highly competitive.
