Job Description

To support this mission, Syngenta’s Treasury Team is seeking a Financial Analyst in Greensboro, NC. This role will support the investment functions of Syngenta NA by performing daily, monthly, and annual operational cash desk, reconciliation, reporting, and auditing activities. Works alongside both the Treasury and Credit Managers, ensuring that operational functions are performed both timely and accurately.
Accountabilities:
Cash Desk: Support Global Treasury through daily communication of cash needs and NA cash position. Reconcile all US and CA bank accounts daily, ensuring any overdrafts are investigated and resolved. Review all manual wire documentation to ensure the necessary banking instructions are provided, and work with the Invoice to Pay team to request clarification when necessary. Prepare, submit, and track manual wires to completion in JPM Access. Calculate and finalize the US cash position, investing or redeeming funds as necessary.
AICO/JV Specialist: Support the Treasury/Finance/Credit team as an expert in AICO and JV preparation and submission. Independently prepare, submit, and track to completion JVs to clear manual wires submitted via the cash desk process. Assist in year-end accrual calculations and submissions. Track and ensure all JVs post successfully and reconcile GL balances as necessary.
Pension and Post Retirement Plans Operations: Perform monthly reconciliation of benefit plan assets/liabilities GLs, investigate reconciling items, and share results with Accounting to Reporting. Gather monthly fund statements and/or calculate fund balance estimates and provide them to the custodian for the generation of monthly account value reports. Generate and provide monthly reporting to the actuary, investment advisors, and managers. Submit trust-paid pension and other post-retirement invoices to the State Street ECFM System. Monitor cash balance in pension and VEBA accounts and request redemption guidance from the investment advisor as necessary.
Internal and External Audit: Work with various team members to support both internal and external audits, most notably the annual ERISA audit of pension and post-retirement welfare plans. Maintain shared files with collected support to ensure all requests are completed thoroughly and on time. Work independently to communicate with internal and external stakeholders to gather and update documentation, ensuring data accuracy.
Political Action Committee Finance: Support the Syngenta Corporate PAC by performing finance-related functions. Print campaign contribution checks, ensuring compliance with the pre-approved candidate list, and maintain accurate records of the same on the DDC website. Work with third-party Skadden to ensure reporting compliance with all Federal Election Committee and State regulations. Present the finance report at quarterly PAC meetings. Ensure employees’ monthly payroll contributions are deposited into the PAC bank account within the required timeframe.
Team Projects and Backup: As needed, work within the team to back up key activities related to liquidity planning, cash forecasting, and internal controls. Perform bank service quality monitoring and support the banking integration of newly acquired entities. Support TFCM with in-office operations pertaining to dunning letters and other treasury, finance, and credit operational matters.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or other related fields is required.
- 0–3 years of experience.
- Experience with SAP and Treasury Management Systems is not necessary but preferred.
- Knowledge of financial markets and broad asset classes.
- Basic understanding of cash forecasting, In-House Bank, and corporate treasury operations.
- Strong internal controls mindset (identify areas of potential weakness and correct).
- Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel, such as Excel functions: vlookup, hlookup, pivot tables, etc.
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a team-based environment.
Additional Information
- Ability to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
- The role is based in Greensboro, NC, and is expected to work in the office 3 days per week.
- Minimal travel (less than 5%).
