- Independently research and design original materials from beginning concept to final product.
- Interpret/understand project requirements from job request form and/or meetings with Communications Program Manager and/or customer.
- Lead design concept sessions with design team, comm staff and business partners as needed.
- Design and create materials according to project specs and through research/inspiration. Designs should promote/support HMSA's brand, be engaging, visually tells the story we're trying to convey, visually aligns across all material and communication channels, and helps drive the action we want the end user to take.
- Route work through online project tracker for review process for feedback and updates.
- Coordinate with printshop/vendors and freelance artists to establish printing/service costs and negotiate cost and production schedules.
- Provide updates on project status/timelines and costs through online project tracker.
- Oversee the production and delivery of material, filing of documents and art, and archiving of project files and documentation.
- Conduct QA Review of final product to ensure adherence to association guidelines/regulatory requirements.
- Assist Creative Director, Senior Designer, and Communications management team as assigned with special projects.
- Meet with executive staff or department management to discuss/evaluate project requirements and development.
- Coordinate and schedule talent, props, permits, and photographer to shoot photos as requested for print or web use.
- Train peers in areas of expertise to promote continuous improvement within the unit.
- Performs all other miscellaneous responsibilities and duties as assigned or directed.
- Bachelor of Fine Arts in Design or related field and two years of related work experience; or equivalent combination of education and related work experience.
- Strong visual design skills demonstrated through a portfolio of work.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Basic photography experience required
- Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including but not limited to Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Intermediate working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud (In Design, Photoshop, Illustrator).
