Summary
As a Technical Writer supporting a secure system build project, you will be responsible for developing clear, accurate, and compliant documentation to support the design, build, accreditation, and operational transition of the system. This role is critical in ensuring technical artefacts, security documentation, and user materials meet governance standards and support audit, assurance, and knowledge transfer requirements within a high-assurance environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, review, and maintain technical documentation across the system build lifecycle, including design documents, configuration guides, standard operating procedures, and user manuals.
- Produce security and accreditation artefacts in alignment with relevant regulatory and governance frameworks.
- Translate complex technical concepts into clear, structured documentation suitable for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, security specialists, and project managers to gather accurate technical information.
- Ensure documentation aligns with organisational templates, version control standards, and configuration management processes.
- Support audit and assurance activities by maintaining traceability between requirements, design, and implemented solutions.
- Contribute to knowledge transfer materials to support operational handover and ongoing system support.
- Maintain document repositories and ensure currency and accuracy of artefacts throughout the project lifecycle.
Qualifications & Experience
- Relevant qualification in Technical Communication, Information Technology, Communications, or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
- Demonstrated experience producing technical documentation within IT, infrastructure, or secure system environments.
- Familiarity with documentation requirements for governance, compliance, or accreditation processes.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage documentation across multiple workstreams.
- Excellent written communication skills and ability to engage with technical SMEs.
- Experience working in regulated or high-assurance environments (e.g., Government, Defence, critical infrastructure) highly desirable.
