Senior Project Engineer, Site Operations

Purpose:

Construction planning and cost estimating in sales, delivery and development
projects at the office.

Key responsibilities:

Construction planning, including:

• Defining the erection schedule
• Defining hauling routes and erection openings
• Preparing general crane/lifting plans
• Defining erection concept
• Performing constructability reviews
• Planning for site arrangements (offices, accommodation, services etc.)
• Planning for site mobilization
• Preparing site reporting templates including progress s-curves
• Compiling, sending and analyzing erection inquiries
• Participating in contracting negotiations
• Give recommendations for selection of sub-contractor based on the capability
• Site kick off (knowledge transfer) to site team (site manager, site engineer)

• Site kick off together with the customer to secure smooth site operations
• Site kick off together with the contractors to secure smooth site operations construction cost estimation, including:
• Familiarization to the inquiry, definition of customer need and making list of deviations to the inquiry
• Acquiring data related to scope, weights and quantities
• Defining prefabrication degree together with engineering and logistics
• Defining the construction unit prices in cooperation with cost estimators defining site supervisory plan
• Preparing construction cost estimations based on quantities provided by engineering
• Benchmarking the quantities with relevant past projects
• Support site engineer/site manager in preparing monthly cost forecast update in project phase
• Cost estimating development
• Cost database updates according to site feedback

Requirements:

• University degree in Engineering
• Language (English), Office software, MS Project scheduling software
• Readiness to travel and to short site assignments
• Negotiations skills
• Good knowledge of either cost estimating or construction planning
• Business knowledge—

  • Knowledge about subcontracting costs
• 3-5 years’ experience at erection site, pulp and / or energy process design engineering or manufacturing. 10 years in an engineering capacity,
