Job Description

Are you an experienced Design Engineer ready to take the lead on high‑impact automotive projects? We’re looking for a Senior Design Engineer to join our growing team, taking ownership of the design and development of Body Panel Inserts and leading a high‑performing design team from concept through to final customer sign‑off.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead the design and engineering of Body Panel Inserts, ensuring robust, manufacturable, and cost‑effective solutions.
  • Manage and mentor a small design team, providing technical leadership, design reviews, and development guidance.
  • Act as the primary customer interface for all project communication, including progress updates, design evolution, issue resolution, and timing alignment.
  • Drive design changes based on customer feedback, engineering analysis, and functional requirements.
  • Own the final design sign‑off process, ensuring all specifications, standards, and customer expectations are fully met.
  • Work cross‑functionally with manufacturing, tooling, quality, and project management teams to deliver programs on time.
  • Support DFMEA, DVP, CAD modelling, drawings, and release activities in line with automotive standards.

Qualifications

  • Strong background in automotive body structures or trim, ideally with Body Panel Insert experience.
  • Proven capability leading design teams or mentoring junior engineers.
  • Confident communicator with experience leading customer-facing technical discussions.
  • Proficient in industry CAD systems (Catia V5/V6, NX, or similar).
  • Understanding of GD&T, DFM, DFA, materials, and production processes.

Additional Information

📍 Location & Working Pattern

  • Full‑time, based onsite at Gaydon
  • 40 hour week standard shift pattern Monday - Friday
