Job Description

Are you an experienced Design Engineer ready to take the lead on high‑impact automotive projects? We’re looking for a Senior Design Engineer to join our growing team, taking ownership of the design and development of Body Panel Inserts and leading a high‑performing design team from concept through to final customer sign‑off.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead the design and engineering of Body Panel Inserts, ensuring robust, manufacturable, and cost‑effective solutions.
- Manage and mentor a small design team, providing technical leadership, design reviews, and development guidance.
- Act as the primary customer interface for all project communication, including progress updates, design evolution, issue resolution, and timing alignment.
- Drive design changes based on customer feedback, engineering analysis, and functional requirements.
- Own the final design sign‑off process, ensuring all specifications, standards, and customer expectations are fully met.
- Work cross‑functionally with manufacturing, tooling, quality, and project management teams to deliver programs on time.
- Support DFMEA, DVP, CAD modelling, drawings, and release activities in line with automotive standards.
Qualifications
- Strong background in automotive body structures or trim, ideally with Body Panel Insert experience.
- Proven capability leading design teams or mentoring junior engineers.
- Confident communicator with experience leading customer-facing technical discussions.
- Proficient in industry CAD systems (Catia V5/V6, NX, or similar).
- Understanding of GD&T, DFM, DFA, materials, and production processes.

Additional Information
📍 Location & Working Pattern
- Full‑time, based onsite at Gaydon
- 40 hour week standard shift pattern Monday - Friday
