Key Position Functions Include:
- Execute pressure-containing welds in compliance with ASME Section IX and API 6A requirements.
- Accurately interpret and follow blueprints, welding symbols, and technical drawings.
- Maintain adequate stock and proper organization of welding consumables, including rods, wire, and gas.
- Conduct pre-weld preparation and post-weld cleanup of materials and work area.
- Perform visual inspections of welds and assist with NDE (non-destructive examination) preparation.
- Ensure work is completed to specified tolerances and meets internal and regulatory quality standards.
- Assist with the setup of jigs, fixtures, and tooling for fabrication jobs as required.
- Execute high-quality welds on pressure-containing components in compliance with ASME Section IX and API 6A standards.
- Read and follow engineering drawings, welding symbols, and job travelers to ensure accurate fabrication and weld execution.
- Use welding and fitting skills to assemble wellhead and choke equipment parts per manufacturing specifications.
- Monitor and manage inventory of welding consumables (e.g., wire, rod, gas) and request re-supply as needed to prevent downtime.
- Keep the welding area clean, organized, and free of hazards. Follow all company safety procedures and wear the required PPE.
- Perform visual weld inspections and prepare parts for NDE (Non-Destructive Examination) per quality procedures.
- Perform basic maintenance on welding equipment and promptly report issues or failures to maintenance personnel.
- Accurately complete job documentation, weld logs, and time tracking per production and quality requirements.
- Work closely with production leads, machinists, and quality inspectors to complete jobs on time and to specifications.
- Operate multiple welding processes including: Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), Flux Cored Arc Welding (FCAW), Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW), Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW)
Preferred candidates will possess a combination of the following:
- Prior certification in ASME or AWS welding processes (e.g., 6G, pipe welding) is required.
- Experience in wellhead equipment or oilfield service product manufacturing is desired.
- Proven experience with GMAW, GTAW, SMAW, and pressure-containing welds in a manufacturing or repair environment.
- Experience working with ASME and API welding codes and procedures (WPS, PQR, WQTR).
- Proficiency in fabrication techniques, including cutting, fitting, and tack welding of components.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols.
- Strong attention to detail, craftsmanship, and commitment to quality and safety.
- Forklift or overhead crane experience is a plus.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand, bend, or stoop for extended periods.
- Work is performed in a shop/manufacturing environment, exposed to noise, heat, fumes, and sharp materials.
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) must always be used.
